I admire Jay's approach and believe his way of relating to religious "outsiders" and including them in on God's love and plan for them may be the most similar to Jesus'.
Having said that with sincerity, I tracked a few links down and was really disappointed to find that he has jumped on the "affirming" bandwagon with most of the other social liberals. Went so far as to download a sermon on it by his assistant pastor which was an attempt to explain several key passages condemning the expression of homosexuality. Somehow in every explanation I read or hear, relativism and "grace" win out and Jesus, holiness, and accountability are completely absent from the discussion.
